Styropack UK, has started supplying EPS (expanded polystyrene) boxes to Syngenta Bioline, one of world's leading producers of bugs.
Syngenta produces seventeen different insects and mites that are used by growers to control pests - helping to reduce the use of pesticides. The company also produces bumblebees that are used to pollinate a wide range of crops including tomatoes and soft fruit.

"We first investigated polystyrene packaging because we won a large order that meant weekly deliveries going to Spain. We needed to keep the bugs cold so that they would not develop in transit," explains Adam Cook, Operations Controller at Syngenta Bioline.
"The polystyrene boxes are ideal for this. We can guarantee that the bugs will arrive in perfect condition, ready to be unleashed on unsuspecting pests in growers' greenhouses," says Cook.
For the Spanish order, the bugs are transported in EPS boxes, with ice packs, on temperature-controlled lorries. They leave on Friday and arrive on Monday in Spain - in top condition, ready-to-use.
"We are so pleased with the performance of polystyrene boxes and the excellent service from Styropack that we are looking at using their boxes for all our bugs in the future," adds Cook.
Styropack is delighted with its newest customer and, although supplying boxes for live bugs is a new sector, it is one that Styropack is pleased to be involved in: "This is a new and interesting market for our insulation boxes. And, I am sure the current concerns about the over-use of pesticides means it is a growing market," says Gideon Woodhouse, UK Sales Manager, Styropack.
"Syngenta is a very impressive organisation; quality and customer satisfaction are at the top of their agenda and that makes them a great company to do business with," concludes Woodhouse.
