In a continuation of its quest to expand and grow its market share in products moulded from EPS, EPP and other materials, Styropack has appointed Will Chambers as Area Sales Manager for South UK.
"Will was an outstanding candidate for the position' says Mike Pocock, UK Sales Manager, Styropack. We are absolutely delighted that he is joining our team, he brings a unique blend of skills and enthusiasm to Styropack and I am sure that he will forge a great role for himself."
Will Chambers is certainly used to forging new roles, in a previous life he was a presenter for Disney Channel and worked for BBC radio. As he explains:
"This position at Styropack fits the bill exactly. I enjoy working closely with customers and learning about their business."
"I worked in sales in my 20s, including in the packaging sector for British Polythene Industries. That all changed, when out of the blue, a hobby as a hospital radio presenter led to voice-over work and then to presenting at Disney Channel UK.
"But, after ten years in that world, I found myself at BBC Radio doing editorial work, which is not something I had planned for or even particularly wanted to be doing.
"So I decided tomake a return to sales and account management in the packaging sector. This position at Styropack fits the bill exactly. I enjoy working closely with customers and learning about their business.
"I love problem solving and learning about new sectors. It has been fascinating to learn about EPS (expanded polystyrene) and its many and varied applications in various sectors.
"I can't wait to get out there and start meeting my new accounts and putting my energies into developing my side of this dynamic business."
The first commercial plant to produce BioFoam is currently being built by Synbra, in The Netherlands; it will have a capacity of 5,000 tonnes a year and is expected to be fully operational by summer 2010.
BioFoam® has similar and compatible qualities to the expanded polystyrene packaging products produced by Styropack in the UK and the company has already had customers expressing interest in BioFoam®.
"We are very excited about the potential of this new sustainable material," says Mike Pocock, Group Sales Manager, Styropack.
"We are looking at applications in the medical transportation and horticulture sectors where a biodegradable packaging solution could be usefully employed.
"I am sure that we will see a lot of interest in BioFoam® for protective packaging in the future and it will become a key part of Styropack's offer to our customers."
Synbra intends to take a leading position in Europe as a supplier of biologically degradable polymers from renewable sources and anticipates further growth in this field.
