Styropack UK has won a new contract to supply EPS (expanded polystyrene) packaging to consumer electronics giant JVC.
The contract to provide packaging for JVC's 26" and 32" LCD televisions, was won after a hard-fought contest between three of the UK's major EPS packaging suppliers. Steve McCluskie, General Manager, JVC explains: "Styropack put in a bid that focused on the key issues.

"We require a supplier to be within a radius of one hour from our factory and to provide a JIT (just in time) delivery service. As we pack around 3,500 units a day, including some night shifts, that means two or three lorries delivering daily.
"Another key criteria for us is the quick turnaround of the packaging design and the fast delivery of the tool. Styropack sent their head designer, Brent Lofthouse, to work on site with our team to finalise the design and, the tool was ordered, and delivered, in less then four weeks.
Richard Lee, Sales Director, Styropack says: "We are very excited to have won the work in such a challenging situation and, it is really good to be working with JVC again."
The total contract is worth £500,000. The packs will be manufactured at Styropack's Glasgow site and delivered to JVC to be packed around their televisions, which are destined for the UK and European market.
